Is a used drink machine a good buy?

For most first-time owners, yes. A refurbished machine costs well under half the price of a new one and does the same job: keeping drinks cold and taking payment. The trade-off is a shorter remaining life and older energy efficiency than a new model.

Used machines suit workshops, depots, clubs, gyms and sites where the machine sits out of public view. Where looks and energy use matter most — a reception area or a high-traffic public space — a new machine is usually worth the extra.

Three ways to get a cold drink machine

You can host one free, buy one new, or buy one used — and new or used machines can be paid off over time with lease-to-own finance instead of paying the full price upfront.

Lease-to-own drink machine funding

Lease-to-own lets a business, club or operator put a new or used cold drink machine on site now and pay it off over an agreed term, owning it at the end. It suits buyers who want the takings but would rather not spend the full price upfront in one go.

Terms depend on the machine, the business and the lender, so we don't publish a standard rate. Send a finance enquiry and we'll come back with options for the specific machine you want.

  • Available on new and refurbished drink machines
  • Payment system and installation can be included in the amount financed
  • You keep the drink sales from day one
  • Ask on the finance page — there's no cost to enquire

What the official summer outlook says

The Bureau of Meteorology's long-range forecast issued 8 October 2026 says daytime temperatures are likely to be above average across Australia for November to January, with overnight temperatures also likely above average (source: Bureau of Meteorology climate outlooks, https://www.bom.gov.au/climate/ahead/outlooks/, checked 10 October 2026).

The Bureau also reports that a strong El Niño is underway and models indicate it is likely to become the strongest El Niño on record since reliable records began in 1950. The Bureau notes El Niño is only one influence on Australian weather, and its strength does not always match its local impact (source: https://www.bom.gov.au/news-and-media/el-nino-strength-doesnt-always-match-impact-on-australia, checked 10 October 2026).

For a workplace, that means planning for more hot days, not predicting a specific temperature. A warmer-than-average season is exactly when an under-sized or slow-to-refill drink machine runs empty.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a used drink vending machine in Australia?

From $1,950 + GST for a refurbished solid-door can and bottle machine, up to $4,950 + GST for a large glass-front machine, plus payment system and transport.

Can I get lease-to-own on a used drink machine?

Yes. Lease-to-own is available on refurbished machines as well as new ones. Terms are quoted per application.

Are used drink machines cashless-ready?

Yes. A cashless card reader can be fitted from $550 installed, taking tap card, phone, watch and QR payments.

Which used drink machine is best for a gym or sports club?

The 600 ml bottle and sports drink machine, with column pitch set for 600 ml bottles and 500 ml sports drinks.

Why does hot weather matter for a drink vending machine?

Cold drink sales are strongly temperature driven. In hot weeks a workplace machine can sell two to three times its winter volume, mostly between 10am and 3pm, so machines need more stock and more frequent refills.
