Speed and hygiene at the machine
A contactless transaction takes about two seconds. A cash transaction — find the coins, insert, wait, collect change — takes ten to twenty, and fails outright if the machine is short on change. On a site where 40 people share a 15-minute break, that difference decides whether the machine gets used at all.
There is also a hygiene argument that has stuck since 2020: nobody handles shared coins or notes, and the only contact point is a card reader the buyer never has to touch if they pay by phone.

Frequently asked questions
Which cards are accepted?
Visa, Mastercard and eftpos contactless, plus Apple Pay and Google Pay from phones and watches. QR payment can be enabled as well.
Is there a surcharge for tapping?
No surcharge is applied at the machine. Card processing costs are built into the shelf price.
Can staff use a work card or fob instead?
Yes. Closed-loop RFID cards and fobs can run alongside public card payment, which is how subsidised or free-issue drinks are usually handled.
Can tap and go be added to an old machine?
Usually, if the machine has an MDB controller. Older serial-only machines sometimes need a controller upgrade, which we quote before any work starts.
