What the official summer outlook says
The Bureau of Meteorology's long-range forecast issued 8 October 2026 says daytime temperatures are likely to be above average across Australia for November to January, with overnight temperatures also likely above average (source: Bureau of Meteorology climate outlooks, https://www.bom.gov.au/climate/ahead/outlooks/, checked 10 October 2026).
The Bureau also reports that a strong El Niño is underway and models indicate it is likely to become the strongest El Niño on record since reliable records began in 1950. The Bureau notes El Niño is only one influence on Australian weather, and its strength does not always match its local impact (source: https://www.bom.gov.au/news-and-media/el-nino-strength-doesnt-always-match-impact-on-australia, checked 10 October 2026).
For a workplace, that means planning for more hot days, not predicting a specific temperature. A warmer-than-average season is exactly when an under-sized or slow-to-refill drink machine runs empty.
Why hot weather empties drink machines
Cold drink sales rise with temperature. In a hot week a staffed workplace machine can sell two to three times its winter volume, and most of it goes between 10am and 3pm. A machine on a winter refill cycle will be empty by mid-week.
Heat also matters for the machine itself. Indoor machines are designed for normal room temperatures; unsheltered sites need a weather-rated machine such as the Outdoor Vendo G-Drink, rated for ambient temperatures up to +38°C.
The best drinks to stock for heat
- Chilled still water — the top seller on nearly every Australian site
- Electrolyte and sports drinks — climb sharply on outdoor, warehouse and shift sites
- No-sugar soft drinks — now outsell full-sugar in most workplaces
- Iced tea, juice and flavoured water for variety
Three ways to get a cold drink machine
You can host one free, buy one new, or buy one used — and new or used machines can be paid off over time with lease-to-own finance instead of paying the full price upfront.
| Free placement | Buy new | Buy used | Lease-to-own | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Upfront cost | $0 | From $4,950 + GST | From $1,950 + GST | Spread over the term |
| Who keeps the takings | We do | You do | You do | You do |
| Who restocks | We do | You (or us) | You (or us) | You (or us) |
| Best for | Workplaces of about 30+ people | Long-term owners | Lowest buy-in | Owners who want to keep cash free |
Prices exclude GST, payment system and transport. Lease-to-own terms are quoted per application.
A free cold drink machine for hot, thirsty staff
If you'd rather not own a machine at all, we can place one free. We supply, install, stock and service it, and we're paid only from drink sales. There's no purchase price, rental or service fee.
As a guide, a site needs around 30 or more people with daily on-site access, or strong public foot traffic, plus a standard power point. Shift-work and 24-hour sites often qualify with fewer people.
Lease-to-own drink machine funding
Lease-to-own lets a business, club or operator put a new or used cold drink machine on site now and pay it off over an agreed term, owning it at the end. It suits buyers who want the takings but would rather not spend the full price upfront in one go.
Terms depend on the machine, the business and the lender, so we don't publish a standard rate. Send a finance enquiry and we'll come back with options for the specific machine you want.
- Available on new and refurbished drink machines
- Payment system and installation can be included in the amount financed
- You keep the drink sales from day one
- Ask on the finance page — there's no cost to enquire

Frequently asked questions
Is summer 2026–27 expected to be hotter than usual in Australia?
The Bureau of Meteorology's outlook issued 8 October 2026 says daytime temperatures are likely to be above average across Australia for November to January. It does not forecast exact temperatures for individual days. Checked 10 October 2026.
Why does hot weather matter for a drink vending machine?
Cold drink sales are strongly temperature driven. In hot weeks a workplace machine can sell two to three times its winter volume, mostly between 10am and 3pm, so machines need more stock and more frequent refills.
Can I get a cold drink machine with no upfront cost?
Yes, two ways. Free placement — we own, stock and service it, for sites of around 30+ people with daily access. Or lease-to-own — you own the machine and pay it off over an agreed term.
Should I buy a new or used drink vending machine?
Used refurbished machines start at $1,950 + GST and suit budget-conscious buyers. New machines start at $4,950 + GST and suit long-term owners who want the latest energy efficiency and full warranty.
